What’s this site about?
Dedicated to celebrating the funny, crazy, beautiful space that is modern Australian family life. I write regularly sharing my personal journeys down with the kids.
As well as my Daily Post I’m also (slowly) building up some extra catagories, starting with kids books, books for grown ups and some serious stuff!
The inspiraton?
When I was first at home with Big Sis I made lots of new friends around the neighborhood. Many had kids of different ages and I learnt a lot from them, observing how they played with their kids, what their kids were into and how they kept themselves active and alive in an environment so different to the corporate one, where I had so far spent my adult life!
It was a sharp learning curve, not just the looking after babies bit, but the amusing toddlers part - not really the hands on type I had never tried craft projects or organised a playroom. Time was different too, instead of 6 minute units there were long stretches of hours spent singing songs, dressing little bodies and washing them, pushing prams along streets, rocking sleepy babies and sponging feverish brows. I had to pick up a whole new set of tools.
I wanted to set up a space to celebrate this stuff, not just the problems, like sleep and teething, but the really fun time! I also wanted to make a space to explore some of the more complex questions that come up when raising kids. It’s for everyone who spends time with kids or who would like to - I hope you enjoy it!
