Whenever he hears a baby crying, he'll turn to me and ask, in that perfect toddler sing-songy voice "why the baby crying, daddy?". When I ask him "why do *you* think the baby is crying?", he'll often reply with "maaaayyybeeeee....it wants to NURSE!" Kids know what they see. It's great that this is what they're seeing. My almost-2-year old has recently become very compassionate around crying babies.
