The only thing that saved us from this slippery slope was setting up a budget. And the answer was "I'm sorry, we don't have any money left in the budget to go out to eat tonight." Suddenly they WERE happy with what we had to offer (of course their other choice was to starve!) The same thing worked for movies/zoos/museums etc. Sorry, we've reached the limit on that category for this month. :) Excellent points.
