Mums and cars/trucks

The Hummer Stretch

Suburban mums drive such big cars these days. I don’t really live in a neighborhood that has lots of big SUVs around the place, but even I notice the prevalence at Kinder drop off and pick up.

Today I think I noticed another interesting factor. There seems to be an inverse relationship between the size of the mum and the size of the car. It’s true, lots of teeny, tiny little mummies scrambling up into BMW X5s (not that there’s anything wrong with the BMW X5, or so I’m told!)

Little Bro has noticed as well, he likes to point out every car we pass - and state firmly “car”. Until he spots an SUV of substance at which time he goes “Aaaah, truck!”

I just can’t get excited about cars the way boys do - I think this must be one of those “Venus/Mars” things (sorry, I hate that phrase with a passion). Although I did have a small stirring of envy when I saw the gorgeous Astin Martin James Bond drove in Casino Royale. My bike just doesn’t match up!

I agree, and the way Little Bro seems hardwired to appreciate all vehicles - it must be on that Y chromosone!

I can relate to the size of the person comment - I am quite small and seem to have an unhealthy obsession with having the biggest car possible. Pretty sure I’ll never be allowed on though….

That reminds me of a very tall friend who used to complain about small woman dating really tall guys, she felt that it was unfair as there were only a limited number of guys taller than her to go around and they shouldn’t all be taken up by small woman. Now I think about it, she was quite a bitter person….
