Little Bro talks a lot, I guess it’s no surprise as everyone in our house talks a lot, in fact on reflection I think just about everyone in the extended family talks a lot. Unfortunately for Little Bro, at this stage of his life, its really only his immediate family that understand much of what he’s saying, I imagine it gets quite frustrating for the little bloke.
He spends a lot of time taking people by the hand and leading them to things and repeating what he just said with greater animation. Some days it reminds me of my time as a corporate counsel.
Although not widely understood, he understands 110% of what goes on around him! I think this is imperative for number 2, as there is always a slightly older kid around ready to use any opportunity to their advantage!
We were driving along yesterday discussing the fact we were having sushi for lunch (the kids favourite), and yes, I also suspect expensive tastes are in the genes! They go crazy for the stuff, Big Sis has been known to eat 4 large sushi rolls in a sitting with Little Bro not far behind her. They waddle out of sushi bars with tummies as tight as drums.
Anyway, I was teasing Big Sis a little, talking about the variety of rolls we might order, you see she only likes one kind of roll - raw salmon. Warming to the joke, Big Sis decided to share it by suggesting that we could order an avocado roll and feed it to Little Bro.
Little Bro listened intently and then suddenly spoke up, “no no no no!”, he yelled. I turned to him and enquired, “do you want a fish one too?” He smiled and replied firmly, “yes”. He may only be 18 months (nearly), but he can get a message across in an emergency - he’s not going to put up with the dud sushi roll!
